Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman expressed profound shock and condolences on Tuesday over the tragic loss of lives and widespread devastation caused by a powerful earthquake in San José del Palmar, Colombia.

In a formal condolence message dispatched to his Colombian counterpart, Dr. Rahman conveyed heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh, its citizens, and himself to the bereaved families.

The severe earthquake struck San José del Palmar, collapsing several structures and trapping residents under rubble. The seismic disaster caused immediate human casualties and severe infrastructure damage, prompting emergency rescue operations across the impacted zones.

Dr. Rahman wished a speedy recovery for those injured in the catastrophe. He emphasized that Bangladesh stands in firm solidarity with the people of Colombia during this challenging time, reflecting the spirit of friendship between the two nations.

Expressing confidence in the resilience of the South American nation, the Foreign Minister noted that the courageous spirit of the Colombian people would help them endure and overcome the aftermath of this natural tragedy.
