Notorious crime lord David Imon arrested along Jessore border

Date:

TBM Report

Law enforcement agencies have dealt a major blow to the regional underworld with the arrest of David Imon, a top-tier criminal mastermind operating across Chittagong. Acting on precise intelligence, a specialized team from the Chittagong District Police apprehended Imon during a high-stakes raid in the border area of Jhikargachha in Jessore on Wednesday, preventing his attempt to flee the country.

Imon had been a key target for law enforcement following a series of armed displays, extortion rackets, and violent crimes that disrupted public safety in the port city over the past two years. Police Super Masud Alam confirmed that multiple elite police units had been tracking Imon’s network, executing a coordinated operation after gathering actionable intelligence regarding his movement towards the border.

The arrest follows a major breakthrough on July 26, when Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) detained two of Imon’s key accomplices, Mohammad Asif and Saidul Islam alias Arif, in the Wajedia area. Officers seized a loaded foreign pistol and ammunition from their possession. During interrogation, both operatives confessed to carrying out extortion and public brandishing of arms under Imon’s direct orders.

While another police unit launched a simultaneous raid in Noakhali to capture Imon’s trusted associate, Raihan, the suspect narrowly evaded arrest. Authorities assured that Raihan’s escape routes have been sealed. Interrogators expect Imon’s custody to yield critical information regarding illicit arms supply chains and influential patrons backing Chittagong’s underworld syndicates.
