World Cup Final triggers tragedy: Two commit suicide after family disputes, one Argentine fan dies of heart attack

In a tragic turn of events surrounding the World Cup Football Final, three separate fatal incidents were reported across Senbagh in Noakhali, Bheramara in Kushtia, and Satkhira on Monday.

In Senbagh, Noakhali, a 26-year-old youth named Raihan committed suicide by hanging after an altercation with his wife upon returning home from watching the final match. According to local police, the incident occurred early Monday morning at Kesharpar village. Senbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rahim Sarkar confirmed that an investigation into the family dispute is underway.

A similar tragedy unfolded in Bheramara, Kushtia, where Sumon Hossain (32), a farmer and father of two young children, reportedly hanged himself following a dispute with his wife after returning home from watching the World Cup final. Sumon was known to be an ardent supporter of the Argentina football team.

Meanwhile, in Satkhira, an Argentina fan named Hafizur Rahman Laltu (35) tragically died of a heart attack following Argentina’s defeat in the final. Family members stated that Laltu watched the match on a big screen at Kodomtola and returned home deeply distressed after his team lost. He collapsed shortly afterwards and was declared dead upon arrival at Satkhira Sadar Hospital.

Police have recovered the bodies in Noakhali and Kushtia for autopsy, while local authorities are looking into all three cases.
