A tragic road accident escalated into a major law and order crisis on the Barishal-Patuakhali highway in Nalciti upazila of Jhalakathi, after a reckless pickup truck rammed into a funeral procession carrying a corpse on a traditional cot (khatia). Hundreds of aggregate locals and grief-stricken relatives converged on the highway, blocking all logistics networks and setting the abandoned pickup truck on fire. The vehicular arson completely paralyzed vehicular movement on the vital Barishal-Patuakhali-Kuakata regional highway for nearly two consecutive hours, generating tailbacks extending over several kilometers and stranding vital cargo deliveries.
Upon receiving tactical alerts, administrative reinforcement units from the Nalciti Police Station, alongside frontline teams from the Fire Service and Civil Defence, rushed to the flashpoint.
