The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has unveiled chilling details regarding the brutal homicide of a Saudi expatriate, Mokarram Mia, whose body was dismembered into eight pieces and scattered across the Mandajone in capital’s Mugda. Following the gruesome execution, the perpetrators allegedly displayed an absolute lack of remorse, dining on biryani at a local restaurant and hosting a celebratory rooftop party the following evening. Elite crime busters from RAB-3 have apprehended the primary accomplice, Helena Begum (40), along with her 13-year-old minor daughter, while the mastermind and extramarital partner, Taslima Akhter alias Hasna (31), remains at large.
During a comprehensive press briefing held at the RAB-3 headquarters on Monday afternoon (May 18, 2026), Commander Lieutenant Colonel Fayezul Arefin disclosed the chronological development of the pre-planned homicide. According to intelligence analysis, Mokarram had developed a clandestine extramarital relationship with Taslima, the wife of his fellow expatriate villager in Saudi Arabia. Over the course of their long-distance relationship, Mokarram had provided financial assistance totaling approximately BDT 500,000 to Taslima. On May 13, without notifying his immediate family, Mokarram arrived from Saudi Arabia and went straight to a rented apartment in Manda, where Taslima was waiting alongside her friend Helena.
The situation deteriorated rapidly on the night of May 13 inside the single-room residence following bitter altercations regarding marriage ultimatums and the repayment of the cash funds. The conflict peaked when Mokarram allegedly attempted an illicit assault on Helena’s minor daughter, prompting immediate structural retaliation. When Mokarram threatened to release compromised digital footages of Taslima on social media networks, Taslima and Helena finalized a summary execution plot. The following morning, the suspects laced Mokarram’s breakfast with high-dosage sedatives, incapacitating him before suffocating him with a pillow. When the victim resisted, Helena slashed his throat with a sharp kitchen chopper (boti), while her minor daughter fractured his skull with a hammer.
Following the murder, the suspects dragged the corpse into the lavatory, meticulously cleansed the crime scene, and utilized the kitchen chopper to dismember the victim into eight segments. The fragments were stored inside heavy polythene sacks for twelve hours before the suspects dumped seven sections in a garbage heap beneath the complex, dropping the severed head a kilometer away. On May 15, the group visited a local diner and subsequently hosted a rooftop gathering, inviting unsuspecting neighbors to suppress suspicion. The crime came to light on May 17 when local residents contacted the ‘999’ national emergency hotline due to a severe stench, enabling the Bangladesh Police to recover the remains and verify the victim’s identity using automated NID fingerprint biometrics.
