Three days after the horrific recovery of five bodies in Kapasia, Gazipur, law enforcement agencies are yet to apprehend the prime suspect, Forkan Mia (40). Forkan is accused of brutally murdering his wife, three minor daughters, and his brother-in-law. The victims were identified as Sharmin Akhtar (30), her daughters Meem (15), Habiba (8), Faria (2), and her brother Rasul (22). A case has been filed against Forkan and 3-4 unidentified accomplices.
The investigation has taken a mysterious turn due to the state of Sharmin’s body, which was found adorned in a new saree and gold-plated jewelry. While family members suggest the family went out earlier that evening, locals and forensic observers are questioning whether the suspect meticulously “staged” the crime scene to deflect investigation. Forensic experts from Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital indicated that the victims might have been sedated before being attacked with sharp weapons and strangled.
According to the deceased’s family, the motive appears to be a long-standing domestic dispute regarding Forkan’s desire for a second marriage. Shortly after the incident, Forkan reportedly called his brother, confessing, “I have finished everything; I’ve killed them all. You won’t find me again.” Police recovered an unsigned complaint at the scene, allegedly written by Forkan to frame his in-laws, which relatives have dismissed as a calculated deception to escape justice.
Local authorities are currently utilizing tracking technology to locate Forkan, who remains the key to unlocking the truth behind this cold-blooded massacre. The presence of multiple deep wounds on the older daughter, Meem, suggests she attempted to fight back, highlighting the sheer brutality of the attack.
