KOICA hosts NGO enhancement workshop to boost peer learning and sustainable community development

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Bangladesh Office organized the ‘KOICA-NGO Partnership Enhancement Workshop 2026’ in Dhaka, aiming to bolster peer learning and community sustainability through locally led development initiatives.

According to a press release issued on Thursday, September 3, 2026, representatives from KOICA’s partner organizations—including ADRA, Global Care, Heart to Heart Foundation, Oxfam, Save the Children, Concern Worldwide, and local partner Jagrata Juba Shanga (JJS)—participated in the event, with BRAC attending as a guest organization.

The workshop marked the culmination of a joint field-monitoring and peer-learning process during which participating entities visited one another’s field projects. Representatives shared field insights, community-driven methodologies, and best practices across various sectors, including health, education, climate resilience, livelihoods, and social development.

Addressing the audience, Mr. Jihoon Kim, Country Director of the KOICA Bangladesh Office, emphasized civil society collaboration to deliver inclusive development outcomes. He urged organizations to build local capacity and form operational ties with local government institutions to sustain development benefits long after formal project completion.

Mr. Hyunwoo Yang, Deputy Country Director of KOICA Bangladesh Office, outlined KOICA’s evolving development cooperation priorities and strategic engagement direction in Bangladesh. Ms. Sujin Kong, Deputy Country Director, facilitated interactive discussions regarding field implementation experiences.

The event concluded with all participating non-governmental organizations and KOICA renewing their commitment to continuous knowledge exchange and collaborative action to advance self-reliant, community-led growth throughout Bangladesh.
