The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Finance has recommended passing the ‘Bank Resolution (Amendment) Bill, 2026’ in an amended form following comprehensive scrutiny and review.
The recommendation came during the parliamentary body’s third meeting of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Committee Chairman Mushfiqur Rahman presided over the session.
Lawmakers thoroughly examined the proposed statutory modifications to strengthen financial sector stability, enhance banking discipline, and improve institutional accountability across the country’s monetary system. Following detailed discussions, the committee finalized its review to table the amended bill in parliament.
Minister for Finance Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury attended the session alongside Committee members, including Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni, Moinul Islam Khan, Md. Shahadat Hossain, Md. Saiful Alam, and Syed Zaynol Abedin.
Senior bureaucrats and regulatory heads, including the Finance Secretary, Financial Institutions Division Secretary, and high-ranking officials from Bangladesh Bank, provided technical inputs during the legislative evaluation.
Key officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were also present to assist the parliamentary standing committee throughout the proceedings.
