The Government of Bangladesh, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has provided US$1 million (BDT 12.3 crore) in financial assistance to Nepal to aid ongoing relief and recovery efforts following catastrophic floods and landslides in its northern regions.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir officially announced the contribution during a meeting with the Ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, at the State Guest House Padma on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
During the handover ceremony, State Minister Kobir formally delivered a personal letter from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman addressed to the Prime Minister of Nepal, Balendra Shah. The letter expressed solidarity with the government and people of Nepal during this natural crisis.
The financial grant will directly credit the Nepalese Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, aiding emergency humanitarian operations, medical support, and infrastructure rehabilitation for displaced families across affected northern districts.
Demonstrating early diplomatic support, State Minister Kobir had previously signed the official condolence book opened at the Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka on September 1, 2026.
Earlier on August 27, 2026, the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament of Bangladesh) unanimously adopted a formal condolence motion, expressing deep grief over the loss of lives and widespread devastation caused by the disaster in Nepal.
