Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Abdullah Zafer bin Abiyah paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor, Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A K M Shamsul Islam, PSC, G, at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
The meeting took place in a warm and constructive atmosphere, focusing on deep-rooted bilateral relations, defense collaboration, and strategic issues of mutual interest between the two brotherly nations.
Both sides underscored the importance of enhancing professional skills and institutional excellence within their respective armed forces. To achieve this, they agreed to expand joint training programs and course exchanges involving Bangladesh’s National Defence College (NDC), Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), and premier military academies in Saudi Arabia.
Discussions also addressed disaster management and response strategies for emergency humanitarian crises. Both representatives reaffirmed their commitment to sharing technical capabilities and operational expertise to handle natural calamities effectively.
To elevate existing defense ties, both leaders emphasized the value of regular exchange visits between high-level military delegations from both countries. Such engagements will help deepen tactical understanding and broaden defense partnerships.
Ambassador Dr. Abdullah Zafer bin Abiyah commended the operational readiness and professionalism demonstrated by the Bangladesh Armed Forces. Expressing his appreciation, the Defense Advisor thanked the ambassador for his contributions toward advancing bilateral ties, expressing confidence that cooperation between the two nations will continue to thrive.
