Bangladesh has expressed strong optimism for an immediate de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East, emphasizing that lasting peace in the region is essential for global stability.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir shared these views during a courtesy meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Dr. Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
According to an official press release issued by the ministry, both dignitaries discussed a wide range of bilateral matters and international issues of mutual concern.
During the conversation, State Minister Kobir underscored Dhaka’s firm expectation to see peace restored in the Middle East at the earliest possible moment. He noted that prolonged volatility affects not only the local populace but also impacts the broader global order.
“Lasting peace and stability must prevail in the interest of the people of the region as well as the wider international community,” Kobir remarked during the diplomatic engagement.
Ambassador Dr. Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to maintaining constructive diplomatic ties with Bangladesh, highlighting avenues for future cooperation between Dhaka and Tehran.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing on the necessity of diplomatic dialogue and regional engagement to ensure economic growth, security, and peaceful coexistence for all nations involved.
