A two-and-a-half-year-old toddler named Tasmia tragically drowned in a pond near her residence at Monpura Upazila in Bhola district on Monday. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM at Ishwarganj village under Monpura Union No. 1.
The deceased child was the daughter of Motin Mia, a resident of Ishwarganj village.
Family members reported that Tasmia was playing with other children in the courtyard on Monday morning. At around 10:30 AM, she accidentally slipped into a pond adjacent to the yard unnoticed.
Realizing her sudden absence, family members launched a frantic search across the surrounding area. After an extended search, relatives spotted her body floating in the pond and pulled her out.
She was rushed to the Monpura Upazila Health Complex, where attending physicians pronounced her dead on arrival.
Dr. Khalid Hasan Tanim, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of the health complex, confirmed that the toddler had passed away before reaching the medical facility.
