Notorious gang leader David Emon arrested in Jessore

District police have arrested David Emon, a top-tier criminal operative and core commander of the infamous “Boro Sajjad” gang, during a precision operation in Jessore. The arrest neutralizes a primary figure responsible for extortion and violent crime across Chittagong and adjacent regions. Chittagong District Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Masud Alam confirmed the development during an official press briefing at his office.

Investigative findings reveal that Emon served as the chief ground operator for Boro Sajjad, who currently manages crime syndicates remotely from Dubai. To evade law enforcement and cross the border into India, Emon drastically altered his physical appearance, hair styling, and attire. However, sustained intelligence tracking by Chittagong District Police intercepted his evasion plans, leading to his capture.

According to police records (CDMS), Emon faces at least 13 pending and under-investigation cases, including seven homicide charges alongside multiple counts of extortion and violent activity. Police have filed a new weapons charge against Emon and four accomplices at Fatikchhari Police Station. Authorities are formally showing him arrested under the new charge while petitioning the court for remand in connection with previous cases.

Addressing regional security challenges in areas like Rauzan and Jangal Salimpur, SP Masud Alam reaffirmed that law enforcement operates without regard to political affiliations or group identities. He emphasized that strict legal action will continue against anyone engaging in terrorism, extortion, or organized crime, guaranteeing sustained enforcement measures to uphold public security.
