In a profound display of state solidarity and humanitarian grief, Prime Minister Tariq Rahman visited the residence of Ramisa Aktar, a 7-year-old second-grade student who was brutally murdered in the capital’s Pallabi district. The Prime Minister spent approximately 22 minutes with the bereaved parents on Thursday night, positioning the high-profile homicide at the absolute apex of the sovereign government’s legal and security apparatus.
According to highly placed administrative sources, the Prime Minister arrived at the residence at 9:51 PM and remained embedded with the grieving family until 10:13 PM. Offering deep personal condolences to the mother of the victim, Prime Minister Rahman categorically guaranteed that the executive branch would mobilize all necessary constitutional avenues to ensure a fast-track judicial process. “The state will treat this heinous crime with zero tolerance, and the judiciary will render swift, uncompromised, and exemplary maximum punishment to the perpetrator,” the Prime Minister affirmed.
The structural intervention follows the grim recovery of child Ramisa’s body from a residential flat in Pallabi on Tuesday morning (May 19, 2026). The metadata of the crime triggered violent civil society protests and widespread human rights human chains across the country, demanding immediate forensic speed. In a rapid tactical response by highway law enforcement units, the prime suspect, Zakir Hossein alias Sohail Rana, was apprehended from a strategic hideout in Narayanganj. Judicial logs confirmed that the suspect has since recorded a comprehensive confession under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure before a metropolitan magistrate.
To facilitate the Prime Minister’s high-security transit, the entire Pallabi and Greater Mirpur sectors were converted into an impenetrable cordon overseen by tactical paramilitary squads. The Prime Minister was accompanied during the high-level visit by Minister of Home Affairs Salahuddin Ahmed, Minister of State for Sports Aminul Haque, the newly appointed Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Shafiqul Islam, and Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon.
