Three killed as Russia launches major strikes across Ukraine ahead of war’s 4th anniversary

Date:

TBM Report

On the eve of the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion, Russia launched a wave of overnight missile and drone strikes across Ukraine, leaving at least three civilians dead and several others wounded. Regional authorities confirmed on Monday that the attacks targeted critical industrial and energy infrastructure in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv, intensifying pressure on Ukraine’s southeastern defenses.

In the southern port region of Odesa, Governor Oleg Kiper reported two fatalities after Russian drones struck industrial and civilian sites. Meanwhile, in the industrial hub of Zaporizhzhia, a 33-year-old man was killed when a drone hit a manufacturing plant, according to regional head Ivan Fedorov. Northern Kharkiv also faced missile strikes in its Kholodnohirskyi district, where emergency crews are still assessing the scale of destruction. This escalation follows a massive barrage on Sunday that crippled railway networks and energy grids, particularly affecting the capital, Kyiv.

Strategic analysts suggest that Moscow’s timing is intended to undermine Ukrainian morale as the conflict enters its fifth year. With front-line cities like Zaporizhzhia under constant threat, the systematic targeting of residential and energy sectors continues to exacerbate the humanitarian crisis. As the international community prepares to mark the sombre anniversary on February 24, these latest strikes serve as a grim reminder of the enduring and brutal nature of the war.
