Accusing the Union Government of reneging on its written assurances, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced a fresh round of street protests starting September 5. The leadership called for a massive gathering at India Gate on Teachers’ Day, which will be followed by a peaceful march toward the Delhi Police Headquarters.
CJP leaders Abhijit Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, and Sourav Das stated that the organization suspended its prolonged demonstration at Jantar Mantar on July 25 after top Union Ministers agreed to three core demands. These included the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, unconditional withdrawal of all FIRs filed against protesting students, and a compensation of INR 10 million (1 crore) to the families of NEET candidates who died by suicide.
Although Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down from his post on July 25, the government has failed to clear student cases or release compensation over the past month. The CJP leaders expressed frustration over administrative delays, claiming the authorities mistook their patience for weakness.
A major bone of contention remains the stance taken by the Delhi Police. Utilizing Facial Recognition System (FRS) technology, law enforcement identified 2,873 participating students and alleged that 989 among them possess prior criminal records for grave offenses, refusing to drop their charges. The CJP strongly rejected these claims, accusing the police of misleading the Supreme Court and delaying the submission of total FIR figures requested by the bench on August 18.
The September 5 rally will be spearheaded by the families of NEET victims and students affected by police actions during prior parliamentary marches. Neither the central government nor the Delhi Police has issued an official response regarding permissions for the planned demonstration.
