Banned organization activists post banner at Narayanganj office, flee shortly

Date:

TBM Report

In a swift and unexpected move, activists of the banned organization Jubo League briefly occupied the vacant Narayanganj District and City Awami League office on Wednesday noon. Eyewitnesses reported that a small group of activists, identified as followers of former local AL leader Anwar Hossain, hung a banner and chanted slogans for about a minute before fleeing the scene at the city’s Railgate No. 2 area.

The incident has sparked tension in the locality as the office has remained a ghost building since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024. Most top leaders of the party are either in hiding or have left the country. The activists left the banner behind as they hurried away, which was later brought to the attention of law enforcement agencies and local political rivals.

Advocate Abu Al Yusuf Khan Tipu, Member Secretary of the City BNP, condemned the act, calling it a deliberate attempt to destabilize the newly formed government. “As a banned organization, their activities are illegal. They are trying to create chaos to put the administration in an awkward position,” he stated, demanding immediate arrests. Meanwhile, Additional Superintendent of Police Tareq Al Mehdi confirmed that the police are investigating the matter and will take necessary legal actions based on the findings.
