BNP accuses Jamaat of staging Vandalism to defame newly elected MP in Jhalokathi

TBM Report

Local BNP leaders in Kathalia Upazila have accused Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami of staging attacks on its own offices and supporters’ houses to frame the newly elected MP, Md. Rafiqul Islam Jamal.

During a press conference held at the Patikhalghata Union BNP office on Monday, party leaders condemned what they called “orchestrated propaganda” following the Jamaat candidate’s defeat in the Jhalokathi-1 constituency.

Patikhalghata Union BNP President Md. Khalilur Rahman alleged that after losing the election to the BNP candidate, Jamaat activists vandalized their own party office and several businesses in Morichbunia Bazar to shift the blame onto the BNP. “They previously harassed our activists by providing false information to the army, and now they are resorting to staged violence to tarnish our leader’s reputation,” he said. The BNP leaders demanded a fair investigation by the administration to reveal the truth behind the incidents.
