TBM Report ||

The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka announced the call for applications for the Spring Semester 2027 intake of the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

Attributable to U.S. Mission Spokesperson Poornima Rai, the announcement highlighted the initiative’s focus on building a global network of young leaders. The fully funded program allows Bangladeshi secondary school students to experience American academic life firsthand while sharing their own cultural heritage.

Selected high school candidates will spend one academic semester living and studying in the United States. Final selection follows an open, merit-based competitive process evaluating leadership potential and academic standing.

During their stay, exchange students reside with screened American host families and attend local high schools. The curriculum incorporates specialized activities focused on governance, civic leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

Since its launch in Bangladesh in 2004, the YES program has sent 530 Bangladeshi high school students to the United States.

Interested candidates must submit their applications online at www.iearnbd.org by 4:00 p.m. BST on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. For detailed inquiries, applicants may contact yesinfo@iearnbd.org or reach the U.S. Embassy exchange team at DhakaUSExchanges@State.gov.
