Grameenphone Academy, a free online learning platform by Grameenphone tailored for youth, has reached 400,000 enrolments, with 80,000 young people joining its artificial intelligence (AI) courses within eight months, reflecting growing demand for digital and AI skills as Bangladesh’s job market continues to evolve.

The milestone comes as AI and other emerging technologies reshape how people learn, work and build careers. With digital capabilities increasingly influencing employability and productivity, Grameenphone Academy is expanding access to practical skills designed to help young people prepare for an AI-enabled economy.

The Academy’s AI program covers areas including prompt engineering, AI agents, creative intelligence, workflow automation, AI-supported portfolio building, no-code app development, AI-driven UX and machine learning. Across its programs, 50,000 certificates have been awarded to learners who successfully completed their training. The program is also helping learners translate new skills into opportunities beyond the classroom.

Md. Aman Ullah Aman, a University of Dhaka student from Patiya, said his experience with Grameenphone Academy helped him strengthen his communication and leadership skills, become financially independent and pursue new professional opportunities. “I never imagined I could become this confident. Grameenphone Academy helped me build my communication and leadership skills, become financially independent, and today, I’m pursuing Chartered Accountancy at Deloitte Bangladesh while sharing these learnings with more than 300 young people in my community,” he said.

Farhana Islam, Head of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) at Grameenphone, said, “Around 2.2 million people enter Bangladesh’s job market every year, while youth account for 78.9% of the country’s unemployed population. At the same time, technology is rapidly changing the skills employers need, making it increasingly important for the youth to have access to relevant learning opportunities that can help them adapt and participate in the evolving digital economy. The 400,000 enrollment milestone, alongside the strong uptake of our AI program, reflects young people’s appetite to learn and prepare themselves for this change. Through Grameenphone Academy, we want to help turn that willingness to learn into skills that create meaningful opportunities for the future.”

Grameenphone Academy provides accessible learning opportunities across digital, professional and emerging technology skills, with a growing focus on AI and future-ready capabilities. Through the platform, Grameenphone aims to help young people strengthen their employability, pursue new economic opportunities and participate more meaningfully in Bangladesh’s digital economy.
