Leaders of the CIS-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CIS-BCCI) have urged the newly appointed Administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) to restore voting rights for Joint Chambers in its board elections.
The delegation, led by CIS-BCCI President Jadab Debnath, placed the demand during a courtesy meeting with FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Haque at the apex trade body’s Motijheel headquarters on Wednesday afternoon (August 12, 2026).
Greeting the newly appointed administrator with a floral bouquet, the CIS-BCCI leadership expressed confidence that his stewardship would strengthen Bangladesh’s overall trade and investment environment while safeguarding business interests.
During discussions, CIS-BCCI President Jadab Debnath highlighted the operational challenges faced by Joint Chambers. He requested the administrator to lower membership subscription fees to ensure a equitable burden for binational business groups.
Debnath emphasized that granting voting rights and ensuring fair representation on the FBCCI board are necessary steps to make governance truly inclusive for all member organizations.
Welcoming the delegation’s recommendations, FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Haque stressed the need for closer coordination and mutual support among trade bodies to navigate ongoing economic priorities.
The meeting was attended by CIS-BCCI Senior Vice President Tauhida Sultana, Directors Salma Hossain Ash, Md. Enamul Haque, Khan Md. Iqbal, Advisers Mahbub Islam Runu, M. S. Siddiqui, and Deputy Secretary Md. Abdullah Al Mamun.
