Two Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinees were killed in a head-on collision between a pickup van and a motorcycle in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi district. The tragic accident occurred on Saturday afternoon in the Bajnab area of Shibpur upazila on the Itakhola-Monohardi regional highway.
The deceased students were identified as Nafiz and Shadhin. Both of them were students of the local Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan College and were appearing in the ongoing nationwide HSC examinations.
According to local residents and police sources, Nafiz and Shadhin were returning home on a motorcycle after completing their HSC examination on Saturday. When they reached the Bajnab area, an empty pickup van, which was used for transporting chickens, coming from the opposite direction rammed their motorcycle head-on.
The impact of the collision was so severe that both the student riders were thrown onto the road and died on the spot. Their companions and local people immediately informed the police station about the accident.
Citing eyewitness accounts, the local police confirmed that the two students were traveling at a normal speed when the reckless pickup van suddenly hit them. Upon receiving the information, a team from Shibpur Police Station rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies, and seized both the vehicles.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibpur Police Station, Mo. Kohinur Miah, confirmed the identities of the deceased students based on institutional records. He stated that the young boys met their tragic end while returning home after today’s exam paper. Police forces have been deployed at the spot and official legal actions are being taken against the runaway driver.
