The Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister, Humayun Kabir, held a meeting with five European ambassadors and senior diplomats stationed in Dhaka. The high-level meeting took place on Thursday afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of France Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, the Ambassador of Spain Gabriel Sistiaga, and the British High Commissioner Sarah Cook. The Charge d’Affaires of the European Union Baiba Zarina and the Charge d’Affaires of Germany Anja Karsten also participated in this discussion.
The Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Ashik Chowdhury, was also present during the meeting. During the session, the two sides held fruitful discussions on the long-standing friendly relations, growing economic partnership, and various issues of mutual interest between Bangladesh and its European partners.
The discussions placed strong emphasis on deepening and diversifying cooperation in key areas. These areas include trade expansion, foreign investment, defense cooperation, and civil aviation development between Bangladesh and European countries.
The Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister expressed his high expectations to strengthen the existing relations. He noted that the partnership should grow further on the basis of mutual trust and shared interests between both sides.
The European diplomats also reaffirmed the strong interest of their respective countries. They expressed their commitment to further expand the multidimensional partnership and economic cooperation with Bangladesh in the coming days.
