A local Union Parishad (UP) member and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader faces severe allegations of human rights abuses after allegedly utilizing village police to abduct a local farmer, assault him inside a party office, and forcibly shave his head. The victim, identified as Alauddin, disclosed these harrowing details during a press conference at the Monpura Reporters Unity on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. The incident occurred last Saturday morning at the Bangla Bazar party office in North Sakuchia Union, and a video capturing the humiliation has since triggered widespread public outrage across social media platforms.
Narrating his ordeal, Alauddin explained that the assault stemmed from a previous land dispute where local extortionists had demanded 50,000 Taka from him. Although senior sub-district party leaders had initially intervened to resolve the property dispute, the accused UP member, Zakir Hossein Dulal, later fabricated a moral allegation against him. Dulal allegedly ordered the village police to detain the farmer and bring him to the party office, where he was brutally beaten and publicly humiliated by having his head shaved before being paraded through the local market.
The incident has drawn sharp condemnation from within the ranks of the sub-district BNP leadership. The Vice President and the acting General Secretary of the Monpura BNP issued a joint statement denouncing the act as “deplorable and unacceptable,” demanding immediate disciplinary action against the accused member. Concurrently, legal experts and defense lawyers at the Monpura Senior Judicial Magistrate Court categorized the assault as a grave violation of fundamental human rights, urging the victim to seek immediate judicial intervention.
However, the accused UP member, Zakir Hossein Dulal, categorically denied all allegations, branding them as a politically motivated smear campaign designed to malign his social reputation. Local law enforcement authorities confirmed they are aware of the viral footage. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Monpura Police Station stated that while no official case has been filed yet, the police will initiate a rigorous criminal investigation as soon as a formal written complaint is lodged by the victim.
