State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam has asserted that Bangladesh is now in a formidable position to pursue its diplomatic objectives, thanks to a government backed by a popular mandate. Addressing the media, she stated, “With a government elected by the people, Bangladesh’s backbone is now strong. We will move forward with a firm stance in the arena of foreign policy.” Her remarks signal a departure from past diplomatic vulnerabilities, emphasizing a more sovereign and dignified approach to international relations.
Acknowledging the current strains in ties with several nations, the State Minister expressed the government’s commitment to normalization without compromising national honor. “Relations with many countries are currently in a challenging phase. We are aware of the difficulties and will work to rebuild these ties while upholding our national dignity,” she remarked. One of the top priorities on the new government’s agenda is the ongoing visa processing complications faced by Bangladeshi citizens.
