Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has extended his heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to the nation for the peaceful, orderly, and festive completion of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the national referendum.
In a statement issued after the conclusion of polling, he noted that the spontaneous participation of voters, the responsible conduct of political parties, and the professionalism of election-related institutions have collectively proven that Bangladesh’s commitment to democracy remains unshakable.
Sharing the details on Thursday afternoon, Senior Assistant Press Secretary Foyez Ahammad stated that the Chief Advisor credited the success of this massive democratic event to the dedication of the Election Commission, law enforcement agencies, the armed forces, and the administration. Dr. Yunus also expressed his appreciation for the roles played by election observers and media personnel, noting that their combined diligence ensured what he described as the most peaceful and festive election in the country’s history.
Addressing the period following the polls, the Chief Advisor urged all political parties and candidates to maintain democratic decency, tolerance, and mutual respect even after the final results are declared.
While acknowledging that differences of opinion are natural, he emphasized the necessity of remaining united for the sake of national interests.
He reiterated that the successful conduct of the polls has once again demonstrated that the people are the ultimate source of all power in the state.
Looking ahead, Dr. Yunus characterized this election as the beginning of an unprecedented journey toward a “New Bangladesh.”
He expressed confidence that if this trend of peaceful democratic practice continues, the nation’s democracy will reach its pinnacle.
He concluded by calling on all citizens to work together in a collective effort to build an accountable, inclusive, and just state.
