A transport company employee was brutally stabbed and robbed of Tk90,000 by a gang of three in the capital’s Shyampur area late Monday night.
The victim, identified as Md. Golam Kibria (45), an employee of Bongshal Borak Transport, is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The incident occurred around 3:30 AM in front of Sheikh Kamal School on Khandaker Road. Kibria was returning home to Alambagh by rickshaw after unloading goods from Chattogram. According to his colleague, Mehedi Hasan, three muggers intercepted his rickshaw and snatched his mobile phone and cash at knifepoint. When Kibria tried to resist, they stabbed him in his left arm and fled the scene.
Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH Police Outpost, confirmed that the victim was admitted to the emergency department at 5:00 AM. Shyampur Police have been notified of the incident and are working to identify the perpetrators.
