Celebrating a vibrant artistic dialogue spanning borders and heritage, the High Commission of Singapore in Dhaka and Alliance Française de Dhaka jointly inaugurated ‘Bridging Horizons: A Visual Dialogue of Nature, Heritage and Innovation’ on Friday afternoon.
The art exhibition, hosted at La Galerie in Dhanmondi to mark Singapore’s 61st National Day, brings together master painters and emerging talents from both nations in a shared display of cultural resonance.
Mr. Mitchel Lee, Chargé d’Affaires of the High Commission of Singapore, attended the inaugural event as Chief Guest. Renowned Bangladeshi master painter Professor Emeritus Rafiqun Nabi and Alliance Française Director François Chambraud graced the occasion as Guest of Honor and Special Guest, respectively.
Curated by Harun ar Rashid Tutul, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka, the exhibition brings together themes of environmental consciousness, heritage preservation, and modern identity across complementary artistic mediums.
In his opening address, Charge d’Affaires Mitchel Lee underscored the profound role of visual arts in deepening international understanding.
“Art naturally extends diplomacy by fostering lasting human connections that outlive formal engagements,” stated Mitchel Lee. “As Singapore and Bangladesh look toward commemorating 55 years of bilateral ties in 2027, this exhibition reflects a partnership rooted not only in economic alignment, but in shared cultural appreciation.”
The curation features a premier collection of Singaporean art alongside creations by 14 celebrated Bangladeshi master artists. Additionally, works from six promising young Bangladeshi artists, chosen via a national open call, share the gallery floor, generating a compelling dialogue between established artistic traditions and contemporary movements.
The exhibition remains open to all art enthusiasts daily from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM through August 19, 2026, at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka, Dhanmondi.
