United States President Donald Trump has firmly defended his military strikes against Iran, declaring he will never offer an apology for the resulting spike in domestic energy prices. Addressing the economic impact, Trump argued that paying slightly more at the pump is a necessary compromise to block a dangerous regime from obtaining nuclear weapons capability.
Speaking at a public event in New York on Friday (August 14), Trump delivered a resolute stance regarding his geopolitical maneuvers. He labeled Iran as the primary global sponsor of terrorism, maintaining that aggressive military intervention was crucial to preventing Teheran’s nuclear ambitions from becoming a reality.
Addressing the financial strain on average citizens, President Trump sought to downplay the ongoing price surge. He noted that regular gasoline now exceeds $4 per gallon—a significant climb from roughly $3 per gallon recorded a year prior. Despite the visible public concern, Trump reiterated that he made the absolute right call and feels no obligation to apologize for prioritizing long-term global stability over short-term price fluctuations.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reinforced the administration’s stance during a briefing. She noted that keeping domestic energy affordable and curbing Iranian nuclear developments remain twin priorities for President Trump, even as complex geopolitical tensions disrupt energy markets.
However, ordinary Americans appear increasingly skeptical of the administration’s narrative. The economic burden of elevated fuel costs combined with escalating Middle Eastern conflicts has ignited widespread public dissatisfaction across the nation.
Reflecting this growing friction, a recent CNN opinion poll revealed that 74 percent of Americans believe the staggering loss of lives and financial resources dedicated to this military intervention lacks justification.
