The Embassy of Bangladesh in Algiers observed the second anniversary of the July Mass Uprising Day with solemnity, commemorating the spirit and democratic aspirations of the historic movement.
The embassy organized a commemorative event at its premise on Sunday (August 16, 2026), bringing together expatriate Bangladeshis, academics, journalists, and a visiting trade delegation.
The program began with a one-minute silence honoring the martyrs of the July revolution. Mission officials read out messages issued for the occasion by the President, the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs. A documentary highlighting key moments of the mass uprising was screened.
During the discussion session, Bangladesh Ambassador to Algeria Md Najmul Huda paid deep tribute to the martyrs and those injured during the movement. He highlighted that the core philosophy of the July revolution was eradicating societal discrimination, injustice, and oppression to establish popular democratic governance.
Ambassador Huda stated that the democratically elected government under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman remains fully committed to realizing the July Charter and upholding the “Bangladesh First” policy.
Praising the expatriate community’s historic contributions, Ambassador Huda urged overseas Bangladeshis to support national progress guided by the spirit of the July-August movement. The event concluded with a special prayer for the martyrs’ souls and national prosperity, followed by a dinner serving traditional Bangladeshi cuisine.
