Pakistan has officially granted market access for fresh pineapple imports from Bangladesh, marking a breakthrough in bilateral agricultural trade following years of diplomatic negotiations.
The announcement came through an official press release issued on Friday by the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad and the Deputy High Commission in Karachi.
The export clearance is the result of sustained diplomatic and technical coordination involving the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad, the Deputy High Commission in Karachi, the Department of Agricultural Extension under the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relevant Pakistani quarantine authorities.
Trade officials highlighted significant consumer demand for premium fresh pineapples in the Pakistani market. Beyond expanding fruit exports, this regulatory approval sets a precedent for facilitating broader agricultural and commercial trade between the two South Asian nations.
Market analysts note that securing direct market entry for fresh produce will strengthen Bangladesh’s export diversification strategy while ensuring better profit margins for domestic growers and agribusiness exporters.
