The Bangladesh Embassy in Rome commemorated “July Mass Uprising Day 2026” on Wednesday with solemnity and patriotic fervor, bringing together diplomats, Italian dignitaries, and members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community.

The event began with a one-minute silence to honor the martyrs who lost their lives during the historic July-August 2024 student-led mass movement and all past democratic struggles of Bangladesh.

Dignitaries read out special messages issued for the occasion by the President, the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs. A short documentary produced by the Department of Films and Publications was screened for the audience.

The embassy organized a panel discussion titled “The Spirit of July Uprising and Rebuilding a Prosperous Bangladesh on the ‘Bangladesh First’ Policy.” Expatriate participants paid tribute to the students, teachers, workers, and citizens who stood at the forefront of the revolution, pledging full backing for ongoing state reforms.

In his address, Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy Rokebul Haq paid deep respects to the fallen heroes of the mass uprising. He emphasized that the government is actively working to establish an equitable, democratic, and welfare-oriented state guided by the “Bangladesh First” principle outlined by Prime Minister Tariq Rahman.

Ambassador Haq expressed gratitude to the Bangladeshi diaspora in Italy and around the world for their unwavering support during the 2024 movement. He urged all citizens to prioritize national interests from their respective positions to help build a self-reliant, democratic, and humane nation.
