Iran’s IRGC claims destruction of US Patriot missile system and radar base in Bahrain

Date:

TBM Report

Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed to have completely destroyed a US air defense system and an associated radar station located in the Muharraq area of Bahrain, according to state broadcast IRIB and international media reports by Al Jazeera.

In an official statement aired by IRIB, the IRGC further detailed that a highly coordinated missile and drone strike was executed against US positions in the Al-Riffa region of Bahrain. The offensive reportedly targeted and obliterated an operational US Patriot air defense system, with Tehran framing the strike as a pivotal strategic triumph over multinational military assets in the Gulf.

Military analysts observe that targeting key missile defense shields like the Patriot system could alter the tactical dynamics in the Gulf region, where the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet maintains a prominent presence.

The IRGC explicitly asserted in its release that these targeted strikes on Bahraini military installations were executed to neutralize the US security perimeter, thereby clearing the path and mitigating risks for potential larger-scale military operations in the region moving forward.

Neither the Bahraini government nor the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has released an official confirmation or damage assessment regarding the IRGC’s claims at the time of reporting.
