The Iraqi armed group, Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), has announced a massive bounty of 10 million US dollars on US President Donald Trump. The move came immediately after Trump publicly confessed to his direct involvement in the 2020 assassination of top Iranian military commander General Qasem Soleimani. According to current currency exchange rates, the announced bounty amounts to approximately 123.12 crore Bangladeshi Taka.
International media outlet Gulf News confirmed the explosive development in a comprehensive report published on Friday. The Iraqi resistance group released an official statement on Thursday evening announcing the reward. The group stated that the multi-million dollar bounty would be paid to any individual, private institution, or independent organization that successfully terminates the US President.
Labeling Donald Trump as an international war criminal, the armed group explained that the bounty money was pooled entirely from internal funds and voluntary donations. The funds were contributed by the active members and global supporters of the resistance organization. The group further stated that freedom-loving people across the world would continue their efforts to bring the killers of innocent lives to justice.
According to the official statement, the group emphasized that taking revenge for the martyred leaders remains a mandatory obligation for all its fighters. They declared that the blood of the martyrs would act as a curse to shake the thrones of arrogant powers. The group vowed to continue its armed struggle until the foreign forces face absolute defeat and their strongholds collapse entirely.
The controversy arose during a recent bilateral meeting in Washington between Donald Trump and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi. During the high-level meeting, Trump openly admitted that he personally authorized and directed the 2020 drone strike near Baghdad Airport. That operations killed the head of Iran’s Quds Force, General Qasem Soleimani, and Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
Following this public and formal admission of the targeted killing by the US President, the pro-Iranian group issued the unprecedented bounty. While the White House and US intelligence agencies have not released an official comment regarding the assassination threat, diplomatic experts predict that this development will trigger fresh legal and security complications globally.
