In a decisive move aimed at mitigating academic disruptions caused by recent environmental crises, Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan announced that the suspended high school examinations for Physics First Paper, Accounting, and Logic will be re-administered nationwide. Concurrently, the Minister offered a formal apology on the floor of the National Parliament on Tuesday, addressing the widespread public controversy triggered by his recent personal remarks. The key administrative and policy declarations transpired during a parliamentary session presided over by Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaisar Kamal, just prior to the legislative passage of the Bogura Science and Technology University Bill-2026.
Addressing the parliament, Dr. Milan clarified that his previous statements were not driven by malicious intent or designed to undermine any demographic. Nevertheless, he emphasized that if his rhetoric had caused distress to any citizen, he was profoundly remorseful—an institutional gesture that was instantly met with thumping approval and support from lawmakers across the treasury and opposition benches. This rapid political reconciliation effectively neutralized growing pressure on the education administration regarding structural accountability.
Elaborating on the rescheduling of the examinations, the Education Minister noted that his ministry had received numerous official grievances from students who faced severe logistical hardships due to torrential rainfall on the original test dates. Many candidates arrived at examination centers drenched, severely compromising their academic performance. Furthermore, severe regional flooding had already compelled the ministry to suspend all board examinations across every district under the Chattogram Education Board, making a comprehensive rescheduling process an operational necessity.
To optimize resources, the Ministry of Education has devised a strategy to leverage the alternative set of question papers originally developed for the disrupted Chattogram Board. By synchronizing the nationwide re-examination of Physics (Theoretical) First Paper, Logic, and Accounting with this alternate schedule, the state aims to ensure standardized academic evaluation without further delaying the academic calendar. This empathetic policy intervention has been widely welcomed as a major relief for thousands of vulnerable students navigating climate-induced educational challenges.
