Commencing the strategic capital-level leg of his official state visit to the People’s Republic of China, Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Beijing on Wednesday afternoon (June 24, 2026). Traversing the regional transport artery from Dalian, Liaoning Province, via a high-speed bullet train, the Prime Minister departed at 02:00 PM local time and successfully arrived at the Beijing transit terminal at 05:35 PM. He is accompanied on this high-profile diplomatic mission by the First Lady, Dr. Zubaida Rahman.
Prior to his transit to the capital, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman led the Bangladeshi delegation at the opening plenary of the 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, widely recognized as the “Summer Davos,” organized by the World Economic Forum (WEF). Convened at the landmark Dalian International Conference Center at 10:00 AM, the summit served as a critical platform for the Prime Minister to articulate Bangladesh’s emerging economic trajectory, technological integration blueprints, and bilateral investment frameworks.
The elite global forum saw the participation of prominent state leaders, including Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah of Guinea, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan, Prime Minister Kim Min-seok of South Korea, Prime Minister Nyam-Osor Uchral of Mongolia, and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić of Montenegro. The multilateral assembly attracted over 1,700 high-level delegates, spanning political leaders, corporate executives, academic czars, and international media representatives from more than 90 countries and sovereign territories.
International diplomatic observers and economic analysts indicate that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s active engagement at the Summer Davos framework significantly amplifies Bangladesh’s global leverage. The integration yields substantial strategic advantages, primarily the expansion of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), optimized employment avenues, and the acquisition of advanced technological blueprints to augment national capacity. The Prime Minister initially arrived in Dalian on June 22 following a successful three-day state visit to Malaysia, and is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with China’s top hierarchy in Beijing.
