The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken a significant stride toward reintegrating the nation’s iconic all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, into the national squad. On Tuesday, the board officially submitted the necessary legal documents related to pending cases against the former captain to the government, aimed at clearing his path for a comeback on home soil.
Shakib’s return has been shrouded in uncertainty following legal proceedings initiated after the political shift on August 5, 2024. However, the newly appointed State Minister for Youth and Sports, Aminul Haque, has signaled a positive stance, ensuring that no athlete suffers due to political animosity.
Amjad Hossain, Chairman of the BCB Media Committee, confirmed that the board has formally requested the government to facilitate Shakib’s return and ensure his security. If the legal hurdles are resolved promptly, Shakib is expected to join the squad for the upcoming home series against Pakistan next month. This development marks a beacon of hope for fans who have been eagerly waiting to see their “poster boy” back in action.
