Chinese ambassador calls on prime minister’s defense advisor to reinforce military and technological ties

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor, Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A K M Shamsul Islam, PSC, G, at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

During the meeting, both parties reiterated their shared commitment to expanding existing bilateral defense ties and strengthening military cooperation between the two nations.

Discussions focused heavily on advanced professional training, military educational exchanges, and upgrading technological capabilities for the armed forces of both countries. Both representatives noted that sharing operational expertise to address modern defense challenges will significantly advance strategic relations.

The Defense Advisor acknowledged China’s long-standing historical friendship and its continuous support for Bangladesh’s infrastructure and economic development, expressing optimism for deeper collaboration across future joint initiatives.

Ambassador Yao Wen reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to supporting the ongoing modernization and capacity-building efforts of the Bangladesh Armed Forces.

Both sides concluded the dialogue by reaffirming their intent to elevate bilateral defense partnerships and strategic cooperation to new heights in the coming years.
