A coordinated assault and robbery occurred at the headquarters of ‘Dot Internet’, a prominent Internet Service Provider (ISP) located in the Lalmatia area of Mohammadpur, Dhaka. Shouting bizarre extortive threats like, “Why don’t you answer Father’s phone call? We will see how you run a business without speaking to Father,” a gang of 20 to 25 masked miscreants breached office security late Tuesday night. Sgheer Hossain Asif, the Corporate Coordinator Officer of the firm, has filed a formal criminal complaint with the Mohammadpur Police Station.
The Assistant Commissioner (AC) of the DMP Tejgaon Division (Mohammadpur Zone), Abdullah Al Mamun, officially confirmed the raid, stating that a first information report (FIR) has been registered. According to the case details, the masked individuals forcibly entered the third-floor office in Lalmatia’s E-Block around 8:45 PM on Tuesday, aggressively hunting for the company’s owner, Pradip Dhali, and the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Md. Mithu Hawlader. When the on-duty accounts manager, Ibrahim Hawlader, and electrician, Jalal, questioned their motives, the attackers launched a vicious, indiscriminate physical assault, leaving both employees severely injured. The victims were later rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage analyzed by investigators revealed a deeply strategic operation: seven masked men entered the inner perimeter, while one accomplice live-streamed the entire assault via a video call to an unidentified handler outside. The perpetrators plundered a computer CPU, an enterprise Wi-Fi router, and an iPhone, causing an estimated loss of BDT 2,23,500, before threatening the remaining staff and fleeing the scene. CTO Mithu Hawlader expressed utter bewilderment over the reference to “Father’s phone call,” stating he had received no prior extortion threats. AC Abdullah Al Mamun assured that digital forensics has successfully unmasked several primary suspects, and law enforcement units have initiated targeted raids to apprehend the fugitives.
