Bangladesh has formally requested Algeria to enhance bilateral collaboration

Date:

TBM Report

Bangladesh has formally requested Algeria to enhance bilateral collaboration in the energy sector to bolster the South Asian nation’s long-term energy security. The strategic overture was made during a high-profile courtesy call by the Ambassador of Algeria to Bangladesh, His Excellency Mr. Abdelouahab Saidani, on the newly appointed Honorable State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, Her Excellency Ms. Shama Obaed Islam, Member of Parliament. The diplomatic congregation took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka today, Thursday (July 9), marking a significant step toward transforming historical ties into robust economic vectors.

Reaffirming the deep-rooted camaraderie and accelerating multi-sectoral cooperation between Dhaka and Algiers, the State Minister underscored the imperative of stable energy conduits amid evolving global macroeconomic shifts. Ambassador Saidani responded with structural optimism, reiterating Algeria’s systemic commitment to amplifying bilateral ties across high-value sectors, including petrochemicals, agriculture, and infrastructure. Both dignitaries agreed that institutionalizing resource corridors remains critical to buffering domestic industries against international supply chain instabilities, thereby consolidating a mutually beneficial economic framework.

The expansive diplomatic dialogue also mapped out actionable blueprints to diversify bilateral trade and foreign direct investments. Deliberations focused on high-potential sectors such as pharmaceuticals, agricultural technology, marine fisheries, aquaculture, shipbuilding, and labor migration. State Minister Shama Obaed Islam heavily emphasized the organized recruitment of skilled and semi-skilled Bangladeshi manpower to fuel Algeria’s booming developmental sectors. In this context, both sides enthusiastically welcomed the advanced, ongoing structural progress toward establishing a Joint Consultative Commission (JCC), which will serve as the apex regulatory framework to monitor and execute bilateral accords.

Concluding the bilateral session, the State Minister and the Algerian envoy underscored the vital necessity of amplifying people-to-people contacts and socio-cultural exchanges to prevent diplomatic stagnation. They jointly stressed that scheduling regular high-level ministerial and state visits would serve as a powerful catalyst to deepen the strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations. Ambassador Saidani assured full diplomatic cooperation to expedite the pending drafts of the JCC, promising that Alজেরিয়া remains a steadfast ally in Bangladesh’s ongoing journey toward sustainable economic modernization and regional industrial leadership.
