TBM Report
A horrific incident of domestic violence culminated in the brutal murder of a 30-year-old housewife, Kulsum Akter Mimi, who was bludgeoned to death with a heavy iron crowbar by her husband in Dinajpur’s Fulbari Upazila. The local tactical police unit responded immediately to the crime scene, apprehending the fugitive husband, Manik Hossain (35), before he could flee the residential block.
The homicide transpired at approximately 3:45 AM on Tuesday (July 7, 2026) in the Swajonpukur Bundipara residential wing within Fulbari municipal territory. According to administrative records, Mimi was the daughter of the late Abdul Kashem, while the accused, Manik, the son of Abdul Matin of East Gauripur village, had been residing as a dependent at his in-laws’ estate since their marriage. The couple shared three minor sons who witnessed the entire fatal assault.
Municipal law enforcement logs indicate that chronic spousal friction had persisted due to Manik’s prolonged unemployment and financial dependency. The conflict escalated catastrophically before dawn when Mimi requested Manik to sleep in an adjacent room to avoid further confrontation. Provoked by the directive, Manik engaged in a violent altercation, ultimately weaponizing a heavy iron digging crowbar (locally known as Khanda) to strike Mimi repeatedly on her cranium, resulting in fatal skull fractures and instantaneous death at the scene.
Aroused by the agonizing screams of the minor children, immediate neighbors breached the perimeter, cornered the assailant inside the residential compound, and handed him over to the responding squad led by Officer-in-Charge Abdul Latif Shah. The victim’s mother, Meherun Nesa, has formally lodged a homicide lawsuit (FIR) under the Bangladesh Penal Code, while the victim’s eldest son, Al Amin, issued an emotional deposition demanding capital punishment via hanging for the perpetrator.
