A tragic road accident in the Patkelghata area of Satkhira claimed the lives of two people, including the driver, when a motorized van carrying cattle veered off the road and plunged into a ditch on Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 11:00 AM near the Baligada crossing in Kumira.
According to police and witnesses, the driver, Ishar Ali (60), was transporting three cows from Abader Hat to Kharnia in Khulna. The accident was triggered when the van’s rear tire burst, causing Ishar Ali to lose control of the vehicle. He died on the spot, while three others were rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. One of them succumbed to his injuries during treatment, although his identity is yet to be confirmed.
Patkelghata Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AHM Lutful Kabir confirmed the fatalities and stated that legal procedures are currently underway. The survivors remain under medical supervision.
