BGB Seizes Smuggled Indian Cumin Hidden Under Sand in Habiganj

Date:

TBM Report

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled an ingenious smuggling attempt in Madhabpur Upazila, seizing a massive haul of illegal Indian cumin concealed beneath layers of sand in trucks. The estimated market value of the seized goods is approximately 4.05 million BDT.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from Habiganj 55 BGB Battalion conducted a pre-dawn raid near the Jagadishpur Muktijoddha Chattar area on Thursday. Upon spotting the BGB presence, the drivers of two suspected sand trucks abandoned their vehicles and fled into the darkness. A thorough search of the trucks revealed stacks of cumin sacks meticulously hidden under a thick cover of sand. Lt. Col.

Tanzilur Rahman, Commander of 55 BGB, confirmed the seizure and stated that the goods are being handed over to the relevant customs office. He reiterated BGB’s commitment to strengthening the national economy by curbing cross-border smuggling.
