A delegation from the Consular Corps in Bangladesh (CCB) paid a courtesy call on Humayun Kabir, Adviser on Foreign Affairs to the Prime Minister, on Thursday. During the meeting, both sides emphasized the important role of honorary consuls in strengthening Bangladesh’s economic diplomacy, expanding international partnerships, and attracting foreign investment.
The courtesy meeting was held at the Office of the Adviser on Foreign Affairs. The CCB delegation was led by its President and Honorary Consul General of Mongolia, Nasreen Fatema Awal.
Welcoming the delegation, Humayun Kabir said honorary consuls play a significant role in expanding Bangladesh’s international relations and strengthening multifaceted cooperation with countries around the world. He highly appreciated their continued contributions in these areas.
The meeting focused on ways to enhance trade, investment, tourism, and cultural cooperation through the network of honorary consuls. The two sides also exchanged views on making economic diplomacy more dynamic, supporting the implementation of Bangladesh’s foreign policy, expanding international partnerships, and leveraging the Consular Corps’ potential role in attracting foreign direct investment.
They also discussed the future activities and initiatives of the Consular Corps in Bangladesh, with particular emphasis on strengthening coordination and cooperation with the government.
Other members of the delegation included CCB Vice President and Honorary Consul of Cyprus Shahab Sattar; Vice President and Honorary Consul of Portugal Shakhawat Hossain; Secretary General and Honorary Consul of Croatia Kazi Shah Muzakker Ahmadul Haque Ishmam; Executive Committee Member and Honorary Consul General of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) Arik Morshed; and Executive Committee Member and Honorary Consul of Eswatini Morshedul Alam Chakladar.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the delegation expressed its gratitude to the Adviser on Foreign Affairs for the warm reception and cordial hospitality. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in support of Bangladesh’s national development, enhanced international collaboration, and further strengthening the country’s image on the global stage.
