LPG price slashed by BDT 357 per 12-kg cylinder following global market recovery

Date:

TBM Report

In a major relief for domestic consumers, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has drastically reduced the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the retail consumer echelon.

The price of a standard 12-kilogram LPG cylinder has been slashed by BDT 357, settling at a newly adjusted rate of BDT 1,528, down from June’s tariff of BDT 1,885. BERC announced the regulatory pricing index on Thursday (July 2, 2026), confirming that the statutory adjustments will come into absolute effect nationwide from Thursday evening.

According to institutional dispatches from BERC, the macroeconomic price relaxation is directly linked to a downward trajectory in the global energy market, triggered by the de-escalation of military conflict in the Middle East.

For the current billing month of July, BERC calibrated the macro price of LPG at BDT 127.30 per kilogram, compared to the previous month’s high of BDT 157.06. Simultaneously, vehicular autogas prices underwent an identical downward adjustment, dropping significantly from BDT 86.93 per liter to BDT 70.40. While the private energy retail distribution channels will enforce these massive reductions across various cylinder capacities proportionately, the state-owned distribution company’s signature 12.5-kilogram cylinder tariff remains structurally locked and unchanged at the subsidized rate of BDT 825.
