TBM Report
A catastrophic traffic collision on the Jashore-Khulna Highway has resulted in the instantaneous deaths of a mother and her five-year-old child, provoking intense civil unrest and a complete gridlock of the regional logistical corridor. The casualties have been identified as Bristi Rani Saha (30), wife of Sujon Saha, and their infant son Souvik Saha (5), hailing from Ghoragacha village within the Jashore Sadar administrative perimeter. Following the impact, an enraged assembly of local residents blocked the highway and attempted a retaliatory arson attack on the offending vehicle.
Sovereign highway patrol units and traffic telemetry logs indicate that a high-velocity covered van transiting from Khulna lost directional control near the Narendrapur sector. The unguided commercial freighter violently rear-ended a local non-motorized van before directly obliterating a high-occupancy three-wheeler electric Easybike traveling ahead of it. The kinetic force of the impact structuralized total compromise of the chassis, throwing the mother and child onto the tarmac where they sustained fatal polytrauma injuries under the heavy wheels.
The confirmation of the instantaneous deaths triggered spontaneous multi-point civil blockades, with protesters deploying makeshift barricades to disrupt transit lines. Demonstrators systematically targeted the compromised covered van, attempting to ignite its fuel reservoir, forcing the deployment of anti-riot assets from the Jashore Kotwali Police Station. Due to the high-density civilian containment zone, a specialized emergency medical evacuation tender dispatched by the Fire Service and Civil Defence was aggressively impeded from rendering timely clearance operations, leaving the physical remains at the perimeter for an extended duration.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jashore Kotwali Police Station, Masum Khan, confirmed that tactical intervention units successfully extracted and detained the fugitive driver from the hostile perimeter. “The commercial freighter was left heavily mangled and horizontally wedged across both primary lanes. We are currently deployed in managing the civilian dispersion and deploying heavy wreckers to restore macro-logistical mobility on the Jashore-Khulna artery,” the police chief stated, adding that statutory prosecution under the Road Transport Act is being processed.
