Seven from seven: unbeaten tigresses defeat Netherlands finishing qualifier dominantly

The Bangladesh women’s cricket team ended their ICC T20 World Cup 2026 qualifiers just as they started it: unbeaten. On Sunday (1 February 2026) at the Mulpany Cricket Ground, the Tigresses secured a seven-wicket victory over the Netherlands, marking their seventh consecutive win in the tournament.

While the primary goal—securing a plane ticket to the World Cup in England later this year—was already achieved, Nigar Sultana’s side showed no signs of taking their foot off. They finish the Super Six stage comfortably at the top of the standings, maintaining a perfect record across both the group and knockout phases.

Nahida sets the tone

After winning the toss and electing to field, Bangladesh’s bowling unit immediately put the Dutch under pressure. Off-spinner Nahida Akter was the standout performer, dismantling the Netherlands’ top order with a clinical spell of 3-10 in her four overs.

At one point, the Dutch were reeling at a precarious 25-5 within the first eight overs. However, the Netherlands—who have also celebrated their first-ever qualification for a T20 World Cup this week—showed commendable grit. A resilient 78-run stand between Sanya Khurana (43*) and Robine Rijke (39) dragged the total to 102-6, giving their bowlers something to defend.

The captain’s finish

The chase hit a brief snag when Bangladesh lost both openers within the first two overs. However, any nerves were quickly settled by the steady hand of captain Nigar Sultana. Her unbeaten 50 off 44 balls anchored the innings, while Sobhana Mostary provided a spark of aggression with a quick-fire 33 off 23 deliveries.

The duo chased down the target with ease, reaching 105-3 with more than three overs to spare.
