State Minister for Land, Barrister Kaiser Kamal, expressed his profound dissatisfaction after finding a local land office in Narayanganj locked well past the official opening time. During a surprise inspection on Wednesday (March 4, 2026), the Minister was forced to wait for over 30 minutes outside the Siddhirganj Union Land Office, as no officials or staff were present at their designated 9:00 AM start time.
“We have declared a war against corruption under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman,” Barrister Kamal told reporters while waiting at the scene. He emphasized that these random inspections are designed to ensure that citizens at the grassroots level receive the services they are entitled to without harassment. It was only after a long delay that a local individual arrived to unlock the premises, yet even then, senior officials remained absent.
Taking a seat inside the empty office, the Minister scrutinized the pending files and announced that administrative actions would be taken against those found neglecting their duties. “It is now 9:10 AM, and not a single soul is here despite the official 9:00 AM start. This is completely unacceptable,” he remarked. He warned that such unannounced visits would continue nationwide to uphold the standards of public service and eliminate bureaucratic lethargy.
The State Minister’s proactive stance has sent a strong ripple through the local administration. Analysts believe that such direct oversight is crucial for dismantling the culture of impunity within the land administration. The Minister remained at the office to conduct a thorough audit of the records and oversee the arrival of the delinquent staff, signaling a zero-tolerance policy toward administrative negligence.
