“Step out of AC rooms and serve the people”: Jhalakathi MPs warn officials against corruption

Date:

TBM Report

Newly elected Members of Parliament for Jhalakathi have issued a stern warning against corruption and administrative negligence during an exchange meeting with district officials on Sunday. Rafiqul Islam Jamal, MP for Jhalakathi-1 (Rajapur-Kathalia), expressed deep dissatisfaction over the substandard road construction projects in his constituency and directed relevant departments to blacklist dishonest contractors.

“Do not draft plans sitting in air-conditioned rooms; go directly to the grassroots and work with the marginalized,” MP Jamal told the officials at the Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner’s conference room. He emphasized that ensuring transparency and accountability is mandatory to fulfill public expectations. He also stressed the need for a coordinated effort among all departments to ensure that development benefits reach the grassroots level effectively.

Meanwhile, Israt Sultana Elen Bhutto, MP for Jhalakathi-2 (Sadar-Nalchity), addressed concerns regarding party discipline and public order. She asserted that the political party should not bear the burden of a few “miscreants” who tarnish its image. She urged law enforcement to arrest such individuals and ensure they do not secure bail from lower courts easily. Deputy Commissioner Md. Momin Uddin presided over the meeting, which was attended by the Superintendent of Police and various department heads, all of whom pledged to work in synchronization for the district’s overall development.
