In a chilling discovery that has sent shockwaves through the local community, police recovered the throat-slit body of a 17-year-old schoolgirl from a septic tank in Govindaganj Upazila on Sunday afternoon. The victim, identified as Nurma Khatun, a Grade 10 student at Taltala High School, had reportedly gone missing earlier that morning.
According to family members, Nurma, the daughter of local farmer Nazrul Islam, disappeared under mysterious circumstances. After a frantic search across the neighborhood in Taluk Kanupur Union, relatives noticed the lid of a septic tank behind their house was ajar. To their horror, they discovered Nurma’s blood-stained remains inside the concrete tank.
Officer-in-Charge of Govindaganj Police Station, Mozammel Haque, confirmed the recovery and stated that the body has been sent for an autopsy. “Our team is on the ground, and we are investigating all possible leads to identify the perpetrators of this heinous crime,” the OC added. The brutal nature of the murder has sparked outrage among students and villagers, who are now calling for swift justice and increased safety for young women in rural areas.
